Launching the Community Mobilization Initiative in the Eastern Region

The Community Mobilization Initiative will be launched on Sun 23rd of November and will continue till 3rd of December in the Eastern Region.

 

The Community Mobilization Initiative is a joint endeavour of Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, and UNFPA, also envisaged within the Ministry of Information Annual Work Plan.

 

The aim is to strengthening the cooperation and coordination between all counterparts working on population issues, especially issues related to Reproductive Health, Gender and Gender Base Violence, Youth and Aids. Focusing on opinion, community and religious leaders as well as community members as the target audience in cooperation with all key partners from the Government, NGOs and popular organizations, Governorate Council, and Media.

 

The main focus of the Community Mobilization Initiative is on: 1. building capacity of key stakeholders and raising awareness at the community level. Therefore, several Community Mobilization activities will take place at the same time as one campaign for 10 days by each implementing partner for different target groups and focusing on different population related areas with the participation of community leaders.

  

Initial Community Mobilization Initiatives was launched through establishing central and local teams in three governorates: Der-Ezzour, Raqqa, and Hasakeh involving all related partners to population issues. Mainly, MoH, MolSA, MoI, MoL&Env, MoAwkaf, MoAgr, WGU, RYU, SU, SAFP, SARC, and related NGOs, in addition to the Governorate Council.  

 

The initiatives is planned to be conducted at both urban and rural areas. And will involve: Orientation Workshops, Open Discussions, Interactive Theatre Sketches conducted by youth groups, and Mobile Clinics, dissemination of Publications and Advocacy Materials, and Training Workshops. Each partner will prepare different outreach interventions in collaboration with other partners based on its area of work.  Detailed programme could be obtained from Directorate of Labour and Social Affairs in the Governorates.
