Increased availability of reproductive and sexual health information and Counseling services for young people, with a special focus on the prevention of HIV/AIDS and STIs among population at risk

Target Groups: Young People, Men & Women of reproductive age 

Project Overview: The following key activities are expected to contribute to the attainment of the output: a)Contribute to the development of the National Strategy for HIV/AIDS with a focus on young people and population at risk through research, VCCT, community based education, training tools, advocacy and awareness activities with the full participation of key stakeholders, including government, religious leaders, academia, media, NGOs and the private sector; b)Re-enforcing alliance building with NGOs, peer leaders, faith-based organizations and community mobilization in support of addressing young people’s concerns; c)Building capacity of popular organizations mandated to promote young people’s development in advocating and promoting discussions of young people’s reproductive health concerns in various forums and carrying out IEC campaigns focused on young people; d)Strengthening the capacity of youth development centers, or ‘youth zones’ to provide information and counseling on life skills and health concerns, with training of service providers for referral to specialized health facilities. e)Strengthening voluntary confidential counseling and testing services (VCCT) and support to the National AIDS programme of the MOH; f)Creating demand through employing the culturally sensitive communication strategy, including comprehensive BCC initiatives applying a wide range of various communication methods and tools; g)Generating a knowledge base through qualitative researches and surveys on knowledge, attitudes and behavior of young people and gathering evidences from programme implementation.
