Strengthened institutional mechanisms and policies for improving legal status of women, eliminating gender based violence, promoting women’s and girls rights and increasing gender equality

Geographic Coverage:  Eastern Governorates 

Total Budget: $550,000 

Target Groups: Social workers, government, NGOs, and men and women 

Project Overview: The project key activities: (1) Assessment of overall capacity of NGOs in the north-eastern governorates in terms of sustainability, hands on experience, compatibility with UNFPA’s mandate, technical expertise & capability in carrying out initiatives related to Gender/GBV, Youth and RH, including HIV/AIDS. As a result of the assessment, the NGOs will be clustered in accordance with the proven expertise in certain area and capacity building support will be provided to them to fill in the identified gaps in management and technical domains.(2) Building management and technical capacities of the NGOs working on RH, GBV, and Youth; (3) Community Mobilization Initiative (MoSAL component); (4) Joint Project with UNDP for Ultar-Poor, (5) Monitoring and Evaluation (6): Provide support to the government in relation to the AWP through provision of equipment and supplies.
